Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga is a great bridge between asana (active postures) and meditation, as it invites us to begin cultivating mindful presence and awareness without external distraction. Starting with some gentle movement and breathwork to begin to slow down, the session largely involves only 4 or 5 floor-based postures passively held for several minutes, all supported by the intelligent placement of props such as bolsters (big firm yoga pillows), blocks and blankets to calm and soothe the nervous system. Subtle yet powerful, it’s a very accessible and highly effective practice for relaxing the body and mind, restoring balance and alleviating the effects of stress. Discover, explore and enjoy the benefits of deep, conscious rest.
Vinyasa Flow
A vinyasa flow class involves dynamic movement to build strength and stamina, as well as mobilising the joints to facilitate greater range of motion and flexibility. A ‘yang’ style of active yoga asana practice of creatively sequenced movements that flow one into the next, the class builds heat and strength towards a peak challenge before cooling down again to end on the floor. Breath awareness is cultivated and maintained throughout as movements are linked to the rhythm of the breath, promoting mental focus and presence: a kind of ‘moving meditation’. The level of challenge is adaptable - options are given so that you can modify the practice to suit your own needs, whether you’re after strong and sweaty or soft and sweet. Injuries can usually be accommodated - if you have any concerns please contact me to discuss.
Yoga Foundations
Perfect for complete beginners, re-beginners or anyone wanting to revisit the foundations of asana (yoga postures). Each session will focus in on breaking down a group of postures to gain a firm understanding of the essential shapes and alignment, as well as introducing elements of yoga philosophy.
This is an in-person class only with limited spaces available.
